Lab Attire

As some of you know, there were several pieces of glass (test tubes, glass rods) during the lab Monday and Tuesday.  As a result, we were reminded of the SAFETY issues in lab.

Since we're finally getting into (almost) nice weather, I need to remind you that you need to be wearing closed toed shoes on lab days.  This will be many days for the rest of the year - we will be working with gel electrophoresis the next 2 weeks and then frogs from (probably) May 18th on.  This also means goggles and handwashing and being diligent in the lab.

Be safe!

Some of the Blogs I'm Reading

Atlanta Zoo - Giant Panda Updates
The pandas I'm always talking about, and the panda cam is up again!  The current panda cub (Xi Lan) is regularly lounging around (nap - flip - nap) for your lazy viewing pleasure.

Razib Khan offers his perspective on current genetic reseach.

An evolutionary biologist (currently on vacation, so now with guest writers) writing about genes, where they came from, where they're going.

An artist who is interested in origins of all kinds.  His art (and the art he blogs about) often has a scientific bent.
